Odisha women rugby team completed a glorious double today by adding the All-India Senior National 7s title to the National Games gold they had bagged earlier this year in Kerala. Odisha thrashed West Bengal 27-5 in the final at Patna. Earlier in the semifinals, Odisha demolished Bihar 41-0, while West Bengal got the better of Maharashtra 12-5.
Odisha women won all four of their Pool X matches by huge margin to qualify for the quarterfinals. They crushed West Bengal 10-0, Delhi 20-0, Bihar 27-0 and Jharkhand 25-0. Later they hammered Chhattisgarh 32-0 in first quarterfinal. Hupi Majhi played instrumental role in Odisha`s title triumph.
But Odisha men team finished sixth after losing to Delhi 7-15, while Haryana emerged champion, beating West Bengal in the final 17-5. Earlier, Odisha men played four matches, won two and lost two. They beat CRPF 24-0 and Uttarakhand 75-0 but went down to Delhi 0-7 and West Bengal 0-14.
